First, ensure the substrate is properly prepared; the surfaces of the steel structures or pipelines to be wrapped must be dry and clean-free from oil, loose rust, or dust-as contaminants can compromise material adhesion and securement. Installation must strictly adhere to design specifications; reducing thickness or omitting key layers is prohibited, as doing so would directly lower the fire-resistance rating. Special attention must be paid to reinforcing joints, corners, and connection points to prevent the formation of gaps or weak spots.

 

Precautions must also be taken against mechanical damage and prolonged exposure to moisture. While fire-resistant wraps are durable, external impact, compression, or long-term dampness can lead to detachment, material degradation (such as powdering), or reduced performance.

 

Consequently, the installed fire-protection layer should not be arbitrarily removed or cut during equipment maintenance or modification; if adjustments are necessary, they must be carried out by professionals in accordance with established standards.

 

Finally, a system for regular inspection and maintenance should be established. Inspections should focus on identifying surface cracking, delamination, or moisture damage, as well as checking for loose fasteners. Any issues detected must be promptly repaired or rectified to ensure the fire-protection system remains fully functional and capable of providing effective protection in the event of a fire.
